I may be returning to KU

I'm considering a return to KU, now that the whole mess with MSE has been cleared up. I'm not exactly happy with the way it turned out, but it does seem to have been resolved.
I'll be deciding tomorrow (Monday) if I'm going to be coming back immediately or not.

    1. I'm not sure at this time, as I've been heavily wrapped up in the Valens Legacy series and moving to another state.
I'll probably have a better idea in a couple of months.

I'm not very well informed about these things, so this is the first time I hear about the KU and MSE situation being cleared up. Would anyone mind filling me in on what happened?

    1. Amazon canceled and banned MSE with no notice and no explanation. Everyone suspects that someone paid a click farmer to hit his books so Amazon would ban him.
At this point Amazon has said he can publish his books through another publisher, but his own account is closed for good.
But they still haven't given anyone a reason as to what happened or why, so we're all just a bit afraid to go back into KU.

    1. I'm leaning towards coming back, but I think I may wait another couple of weeks to try and give things time to settle down and hopefully to get Amazon to get things fixed so this doesn't happen again.
Again, between trying to get the next Valens book out and moving, I'm pretty stressed right now.

Indeed, if Amazon still hasn't given MSE (or JAC) any reason for kicking them out, it seems like it's still kind of dangerous to go back into KU.

On a side note, if the reason behind the ban was some sort of KU violation, why not simply ban them from using KU but leave their ability to sell individual books intact? seems like a counterproductive business model.

  5. When Marvel comics wouldn't let artists helm their own creations a bunch of artists left and started Image comics. You, MSE, and a few others, could start your own site giving more control back to the author and could grow very quickly into a full business. A lot of people would jump ship for a more stable environment and with enough books being published you could have your own version of KU.

  6. I was wondering why I couldn't get your books on KU anymore. I always look forward to a new one and hope you will be returning.

Yes, It's entirely self serving of me, heh.

To be honest I quit using KU about 2 years ago. I'm not interested in reading absolutely every random thing the algorithm puts in front of me-mostly cause it doesn't cover books I want to read.
Would also rather give my money as direct as possible to an author.
