So yeah, a new Harem story

I put out another Stryvant story last night, it's not a sequel to 'Shadow' this is actually the first book of a new planned series. It has sex, I'd definitely rate it an 'R', which is why it's under the Stryvant name instead of my own. It also has some aspects of LitRPG in it, as I did get a lot of folks wanting to more about how the protagonist's powers progressed in the Shadow story, (which I had taken out because I thought no one would be interested. Silly me.)

If you're interested, check it out: Black Friday, by Jan Stryvant

  1. Bought it, enjoyed it.

But you set my "series" expectations higher with your other books - unlike your other series, this ending felt like much more of a cliffhanger. Not so much of an issue when book 2 comes out on the 29th, if you keep that schedule, but rather frustrating now. Will he find his mother? Will he be able to usefully apply what he's learning? Will we ever have faces and more detailed motivation than "I'm an arrogant jerk and *really* don't like change" for the baddies?

As I said - that won't be as much of an issue one the following books are out. But - much more than POI, DOFP, or HC - this book isn't really a standalone read.

    1. No, this book isn't standalone at all, for a number of reasons I decided to do things a bit differently with this series. At the end of each minor arc they'll be maybe a little less cliffhanger like, but as of right now, this is going to be at least a six book series.

I have the second book done already (just ordered the cover) and I started writing book three this morning (the plot is already done, as I said above).
Book 2 continues to focus mostly on Sean as he tries to figure out what to do and how to get his act together.

Book three starts to show us more of the motivations and reasoning behind the other people as the focus starts to expand. I'm hoping to have book three out on the 20th of October, and book 4 on the 10th or 17th of November. I -really- want to have the 6th book out by year's end (we'll see). I'm actually sitting down and writing like a maniac, putting in long days and working weekends.

Once I get book 6 done, I'll go back to POI. If this series is doing well however, I'll put three more books out in it in fairly short order right after another POI book.

Oh, I'll probably either drop some short stories on Shadow, or maybe write a sequel.

But yeah, this is why I put it under a different name, because it's a bit different than my normal 'brand' of writing. And right now, looking at trying to write four more books in the next 3 months is a bit daunting! :-)

  2. So I usually don't write reviews but this one needed all the help it could get to get out there so I left you a review to try and help out
